Kineo offers a unique development retreat that helps leaders process their pain, weariness, inner struggles, and find a breakthrough. It all begins with embracing the silence and seclusion of the hills in Naguabo, Puerto Rico. Walk the grounds and delight in the various fruits growing at Kineo. Enjoy an afternoon dip in the pool, go for a hike in the rainforest, take a trip to local sandy beaches, or sip on fresh ground coffee and watch the sunset.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A DEVELOPMENT RETREAT

The Sunrise
Wake up and enjoy a fresh breakfast in the rainforest with the sounds of creation surrounding you. Unplug from technology and take a walk down to the river to start the day rooted in God’s love. (breakfast is an additional charge and the only meal we provide).

The Sessions
We offer 4 - 90 to 120 min sessions linked together over the duration of your stay. Customized to your unique pain and pressure, we weave Story, Psychology, The Enneagram, and Scripture, together to help stir a breakthrough and produce a Renewal Map for your life. (We’re therapeutically-informed but do not offer clinical therapy).

The Solitude
We do not over-program your retreat. You will have freedom to be still, take a nap, journal, or read a book by the pool. We have created a Kineo Retreat Guide that contains reflections on fear, shame, anger, loss, and hope to help nurture your time of solitude.

The Setting
We encourage you to take an excursion to the beautiful places on our side of the island. Visit one of our many glorious beaches, take a medium hike to the waterfalls, check out the Bioluminescent Bay, maybe even take a tour of a coffee plantation. Explore!

There are 4 - 90 to 120 min sessions* with Dan and Tonya White who have 25 years of ministry experience and counseling degrees.
Session 1: Auditing the painful disruptions in our ministry life
Session 2: Descending into the cave of our particular personalities (enneagram work) to process how woundedness/weariness sits in our bodies.
Session 3: Awakening to what God is doing in our present pain and our past.
Session 4. Mapping what renewal and healing looks like in your next season of ministry.
*Much of the content weaves The Enneagram throughout.

Your retreat will be personalized to you. No other leaders (other than Dan and Tonya) will be involved or present in your sessions. There will be other ministry leaders staying on the Kineo grounds. Between 5 to 8 leaders are here at a time.

We are inter-denominational (not to be confused with non-denominational). We have had over 16 different denominational ministry leaders experience Kineo so far (Episcopal, Baptist, Vineyard, Church of God, Reformed, Catholic, Presbyterian, Anglican, Methodist, Mennonite, etc.)

Yes, we are open to families if we have room. We do not have onsite childcare but we do welcome children. Ministry leaders can create a hybrid vacation and retreat by participating in sessions in the morning and enjoying the local excursions later in the day.

We have all kinds of people seek rest and renewal that do compassion work vocationally - ministry leaders, social workers, teachers, etc. Our tools are not exclusively for Pastors.
The Lodge
Large Clean Studios with private bathroom, AC, and kitchenette. Each room has a front and back porch with the view of the grounds and sea. Each room can host up to 4 people.
The Rainforest
Situated on the edge of El Yunque Rainforest, we have a private river that runs through our grounds. KINEO hosts a waterfall and natural pool and suddenly you’ll think you’re in the “Garden of Eden”.
The Grounds
5 acres of palm trees, 48 fruits growing wildly, and walking paths throughout. A crystal clear inground pool, outdoor gazebos, and a pool house make outdoor life comfortable.
The Beaches
Located 10 mins from some of the most beautiful beaches on the Island. Bring your cooler, your book, a beach chair, and breathe in the blue.

Upon the desire for a Customer to cancel their booking (Schedule changes, Weather conditions, Personal emergencies, Transportation delays, or political occurrences) - all payments are non-refundable within 30 days of the retreat. Refunds are not provided; however, payments may be applied as a credit toward a future retreat at the Kineo Center. By booking a trip, the customer acknowledges this No‑Refund Policy.
